The Seventh-day Adventist Church has a special mission to preach the good news of salvation to every nation; kindred; tongue; and people (Revelation 14:6). In reaching people from various backgrounds; we are reminded that “lessons must be given in the language of humanity” (The Desire of Ages; p. 34). For this reason; the General Conference Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Department has initiated the Reaching & Winning series of courses on world religions. The Roman Catholic Church is the largest of all Christian denominations. Internally; Catholicism is organized into religious orders; associations of men or women who seek to lead a life of prayer and pious practices and who are often devoted to some specific form of service. Each class is planned to be between one and a half and two hours in length; including small-group sessions. It may also be studied personally. Reaching & Winning Catholics includes: Who are Roman Catholics Exploring Catholic Contemporary Trends Surveying Doctrinal Misunderstandings Outlining Some Relevant Bible Studies This material will help Seventh-day Adventists understand Catholic background and doctrines so that they can be reached and taught the truth about Scripture and our Heavenly Father.
