Receiving divine instruction is a sacred and awe-inspiring experience; proclaiming it to a resistant world is far more demanding.
The prophetic ministry is a two-part process: receiving God’s message and faithfully delivering it to others. Biblical prophets received God’s messages through visions, dreams, and direct communication and communicated God’s will through sermons, predictions, acted parables, and the written word. Each prophet had a mission: call God’s people back to obedience, warn of danger, offer counsel, and extend hope.
Into this sacred role stepped Ellen G. White—frail, young, “the weakest of the weak,” yet chosen to guide a faithful few after the disappointment of 1844. Addressing God’s people in modern times, Ellen White uplifted the Bible as the supreme authority and pointed to Christ as the loving, all-sufficient Savior.
