While skeptics proclaim miracles don’t exist; and many Christians question their reality; in today’s broken world it seems most everyone could do with a miracle of some kind. Dennis Smith reminds us that miracles do still happen today. However; God’s Word must be received into the heart by faith for the miracle to become a reality. John wrote that it is through our faith in God’s Word that we receive the promise; “And this is the confidence that we have in him; that; if we ask any thing according to his will; he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us; whatsoever we ask; we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” (1 John 5:14; 15). Concerning this Ellen White wrote: “As surely as the oak is in the acorn; so surely is the gift of God in His promise. If we receive the promise; we have the gift. “Faith that enables us to receive God’s gifts is itself a gift; of which some measure is imparted to every human being. It grows as exercised in appropriating the word of God. In order to strengthen faith; we must often bring it in contact with the word.” (Education; 253).
