Two volumes in one -- Volume 1; titled "From the Cross to Emancipation"; covers the development of the SDA Church among African-Americans from the crucifixion of Christ until emancipation from slavery in America in 1863. Volume 2 -- "Climbing Up the Rough Side of the Mountain;" follows up on Volume 1; covering the years 1863 through the 1900's.
